Ahhh, the Marketing Cardinal Sin that continues to be violated over and over and over again, by newbie marketers all over the globe.

They continue to break this rule and it costs them Followers on Twitter, Fans in Business, and ultimately Money and Time.

It’s the most crucial element in Marketing and people constantly just get it all wrong.

Marketing boils down to basic human psychology and behavior and this is something you just can’t overlook, because after all, Marketing is about people and when you wrap your mind around the fact that basic human psychology does not change, it will help you improve your marketing skills exponentially.

Marketing is not about Selling

Marketing is not about Pitching.

It’s about “preparing” people to buy, it’s about walking people through the process, it’s about leaving little “seedlings” in their mind that will then grow to the point, that the customer will eventually “sell themselves”

One great example of this is Coke. You’ll never see a commercial by Coke telling you to flat out go buy it. You’ll never get someone selling coke door to door. You’ll never see someone at the grocery store pushing a coke bottle in your face.

Coke Markets.

They massage you, romance you, entice you.. in magazines, with commercials, and bill boards, with pictures of Curvy coke bottles, covered with irresistible droplets of water, signifying the coldness of a delicious, caramel colored, sweet drink that satisfies your desire and quenches your thirst. Yummm.

Ok, now that you’re salivating, back to human psychology.

What is this basic human principle?

We will always do more to Avoid Pain than to Gain Pleasure.

This is why people like to BUY but they don’t want to be Sold.

Let me explain.

Say, You walk into a shoe store.

Ever walk into a shoe store, and suddenly feel like you were surrounded by sharks? Ya just want to browse around but the sales people, who work on commission, are circling you, like you are chum, and they are just waiting to bite!

Ouch!

Just makes you want to run for the hills and get the heck out doesn’t it?

I know, I used to work in a shoe store. It was my first job at 16 years of age at the local Mall.

By the way, I “Sold” More snake skin sets, (Snake skin High Heels and Handbag combos at a total of $200.00 a Pop) as a “Part-Time” employee than some of the full timers, but more on that later.

However, my manager, Morry, think AL Bundy, Married with Children, but with a Middle Eastern Accent, whether they wanted to or not, whether they asked for it or not, was hell bent on the fact that every single customer, that walked into our store, was to be presented our most expensive Shoes, ($100 per pair).
They were the most hideous pairs of shoes I’ve ever seen in my life.

They were Called French Horns.

I’ll never forget.

They looked like Black Orthopedic shoes for Men.

But Morry the Manager was insistent upon forcing these shoes down Customers’ throats, whether they wanted them or not.

Instinctively, I was against this, “Shoe in your Face” Policy.

But my little paycheck depended on it.

Whether it was a teenage boy, or a mom shopping for shoes for herself, I was to bring out a pair (average male size 8.5) to any “prospect” that came into the store.

I’ll never forget, when there was a little old couple, buying sneakers for “him”. Morry stood behind the register, watching my every move, like a hawk.

He was a heavy set man, with a receding hairline smack down the back of his head. I guess you could call it a bald spot. He was one of those guys who sweats too much!

Imagine having your every move be monitored by a boss like him, Geez!
Anyhow, I reluctantly brought the shoes over to the couple, when they looked at me with a baffled expression on their face.

“What are those? We didn’t ask for those?”

I nervously smiled and said, “oh they are the best shoes we have, I’m sure your husband will love them”.

“But we didn’t ask for these”

I pleaded with my big brown eyes, and looked into their faces and tried to discreetly whisper, “my manager made me bring these out”.

They shook their heads.

The Gentleman went on to take off the sneakers, put his old shoes back on, and then grab his wife by the hand, and said.

“Let’s Go”.

I felt Stupid, Dumb and humiliated.

Left there with 2 boxes of shoes, and a lost sale, I was obviously upset.

And Morry?

Critical of me that I didn’t sell the Gawd awful pair of shoes.

The couple felt cornered, deceived, and pressured, because I broke the cardinal rule, I tried to Sell them.

Sell them despite the fact that they didn’t ask for those pair of shoes,

As far as they were concerned, I was not sensitive to their needs, desires or wants…

In their eyes, it was about ME, ME, ME, trying to make the sale.

I was just doing what my manager said because I couldn’t afford to get fired.

I Violated their confidence and trust in me, by offering them, no, by Pitching them!

Some may say, well there was always a chance that they would have said YES,

True.

But how many customers are you going to lose by being pushy?

See the truth of the matter is, is that I was the Store’s #1 Part Time Sales person, and ironically, I never sold a thing.

Let me explain.

I was always dressed nicely, always polite, and heck, being semi-attractive never hurt!

But I was more interested and focused on establishing rapport with the Customer.

I was interested in What their needs were.

I talked about their family, or how their day was going.

The less threatened they felt by me, the more money they would spend.

They were sold on me.

Heck, I had ladies that all they bought were Snakeskin shoes and matching purses at almost $200 a pop, that would ONLY purchase or come into the store, when they knew I was working.

See, they could have bought the shoes from anyone else, but they were willing to wait until I was in the store, so I would make the commission.

So, what this boils down to is this.

It’s about YOU, it’s always about YOU.

What, as a Marketer, do you bring to the table, and what do you have to offer.

How can you make your customer feel special, make them feel like they Want to buy from you, and not the “other guy” selling the same exact thing.

I won’t lie, as an internet newbie, I forgot for a while, what worked for me as a teenager, but I realized, the more I was just myself, the closer people would get.

The Less I “sold” the more I made.

People want to buy, they don’t want to be sold.

How can you use this lesson in your business today?

How can you approach your sales process differently, to attract more prospects?

Here are some ideas:
1. Write Articles that are helpful to your potential prospects, (kinda like this one)

2. Create Videos with helpful content, or simply telling stories that your prospect may relate to that will help them in their business.

3. Infuse some of yourself in your email correspondence. People love stories. Tell them one that relates to your business that will benefit your prospect or teach them a lesson.

4. Share a cool discovery or a tip that has helped you, on a forum or message board.

5. On Twitter, Re Tweet someones Tweet that was of Value to you, or just post something that doesn’t ALWAYS relate to your business or opportunity.

I definitely find that my connections are always with people who I never tried to sell. I was just being me. And the less threatened a prospect feels, the closer they will move to you.

And Most of all, enjoy the process, the ones that will buy from you, will always show up!

If everyone getting started in this industry would reach out and become mentored by a Coach,  they’d most certainly cut the learning curve quite significantly. One Coach and Mentor that I definitely maintain in high regard, is this 24 Year old Genius “Kid” Jonathan Budd.

In this video, he just so eloquently and clearly demonstrates how one can diffuse emotions and remove them from your business. I have personally Struggled MOST with what he is talking about in this video. Removing emotion from your business is CRUCIAL to moving forward and attracting incredible people into your business.

When we “CLING” To emotions, they basically stop us in our tracks and literally weigh us down. There is a time and place for emotions, and if you can FREE yourself from them in business, you will see more progress, and ultimate Success.

Keep in Mind, your EMOTIONS are NOT YOU.  Your Emotions are produced by Thoughts, which are also NOT YOU. Think of Emotions as Passing Clouds, one minute they are here, one minute the are gone. But what happens to most of us is that we hang on to the Emotion, we CLING… instead of just letting it go, like a cloud just moves beyond your realm of vision. And then we ACT on Emotion rather than Level Headedness.

1. Identify the Emotion – What is the Emotion? Anger? Fear? Jealousy?

Your subconscious mind is like a computer in that it runs programs.

Right now, as you are reading this, you are running programs to control your breathing, your heartbeat and your thoughts. Your programs are neither good nor bad. Some of them benefit you while others limit you. Your programs control your life in the background.

You can think of programs like beliefs or mindsets.

Manifesting is difficult until you re-program your mind.

Why did I use the word re-program?

Well, you and I were programmed as we were growing up. We run wealth programs, health programs, sex programs, relationship programs and self image programs – just to name a few.

Our programs define how we think about the world and ultimately, how we experience life. The frightening thing is that a lot of your programs are complete nonsense.

For example, I used to run a program in my subconscious mind called “No pain, No gain.” Sound familiar?I learned this belief from my Dad, who worked hard and didn’t really love his work. Here’s what showed up later on in my life… If I was succeeding, there was always pain and struggle involved.

When I saw this, I invested sometime installing a new program – “Effortless Living.” Within months, my world was very, very different. Financial success began falling into my lap effortlessly.

‘No Pain, No Gain’ is an example of a nonsense program. It is not true that you have to work hard and suffer in order to succeed in life.

See, you might want to manifest wealth, but if your subconscious mind is programmed for ’scarcity’, you’ll NEVER be wealthy, or at least not for long.

Why are 50% of all lottery winners broke within 2 years?

In America today, 50% of all lottery winners lose their winnings are are back in debt within 2 years. Take a moment to let that statistic sink in. It’s incredible. The lottery winners were programmed to spend money, not to keep it, so their subconscious mind makes sure that they lose it!

Here’s a take away for you: If you want to create wealth and keep your wealth, you need to remove your limiting programs and install programs that are supportive of creating wealth.

One of the easiest and fastest ways to re-program your mind is through visualization. Make a daily practice of visualizing yourself living the life you want to lead and being a person with the mindsets you will need to have to create that life. Here are some tips to help you along…

Two tips to help re-program your mind.

Tip #1: Stop visualizing and begin experiencing.

If you want to re-program your subconscious mind, you need to be able to communicate effectively with it. Your subconscious mind speaks the language of the five senses, called VAKGO.

VAKGO is an acronym for Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic, Gustatory and Olfactory. These are just fancy names for seeing, hearing, feeling (emotions and tactile feeling), tasting and smelling. As far as your subconscious mind is concerned, a REAL experience contains all of these five elements (VAKGO).

Here’s my point. If you are just visualizing (using the visual sense only), it’s unlikely that you will trick your subconscious mind into believing that your mental visualization is an actual experience because you have only given your subconscious mind one fifth of an experience i.e. sight.

So STOP visualizing and begin experiencing. The next time you relax and begin your mental practice of conscious creation, be sure to include all the FIVE senses in your imagination.

You see, the subconscious mind cannot tell the difference between a REAL experience. By imagining an experience using VAKGO, you are tricking the mind into believing that your IMAGINED experience is real. You make your mental experience real by including all the FIVE senses in your imagination.

Tip #2: Cycle VAKGO

During your creative visualization time, cycle the five senses round and round in your mind. Notice what you are seeing, hearing, feeling, tasting and smelling in your imagined experience. Then repeat that cycle over and over again throughout your visualization time.

This process of cycling VAKGO has the effect of branding your experience into your subconscious mind. You subconscious mind instantly communicates your intention to the Quantum Field (a physics term for the energy that hold the universe together) and your manifestation wheels are set in motion.

If you are not spending some time in your imagination every day, you are missing out and you’ll probably never re-program your mind for success.

Yep, it’s True, Americans Keep Getting Dumber and Dumber each year. Sad yet true. We’ve become a nation of programmed bots who more often than not, do not have an original thought in our heads… and it’s affecting our IQ’s.

PS. I cut the Cable at my house. Drastic you may think, but now I have a ton of extra time to consciously create my own reality and engaging in reading more books and become an avid student of Personal Development.

I’ve also prohibited my children from watching cartoons anymore, as with one look at cartoons like the ones on Cartoon Network, you’ll quickly realize just why people are becoming so Dumb, because the TV programming starts from childhood.

You don’t have to be as drastic as I was, but carefully choose what you watch and realize that every image, every word that enters your head, gets soaked up into your subconscious mind as it is highly influenced by external stimulus.

If you take this one step further, and look at the MASS POPULATION, their perception of reality is based on the NEWS. Everyone makes decisions based on what happens in the news. Pretty Pathetic, I know, but it’s been that way since I can remember. I’d be willing to place a bet, that if the News reported that the economy was on an upswing and it was SAFE to spend again, things would be quite different.

But since we all know that is not going to happen, you have the power to choose, and create your own world, and starting with personal development and controlling your thoughts and imagination, is the best place to start!

We can not turn on the t.v. today without hearing how bad things are. Job layoffs, foreclosures, suicides, Wall Street Bailouts…..The list goes on and on. If you weren’t grounded or rooted, one would think that the world has already come to an end and that we are in the “rapture”. Even those who once spoke positively and had a glimmer of hope left are not singing the songs of doom and gloom.

I have been “unemployed” since 2006 when I saw my booming Real Estate business decline and I went from making 6 figures to no figures in a matter of 6 months. I went through a bankruptcy, foreclosure, repossession all while being pregnant with my first child and no where to go. With good friends housing us for a few months, and my husband finally getting a job….We were forced to either fold or find a better way that offered a more secure future….That lead to my discovery of Network Marketing.

Network Marketing was a great lesson on why we must have a Plan B. Aside from the income opportunities, I found such great insight on running your own business and becoming a master at marketing on how to generate leads. But one additional thing that Network Marketing did for me was bring back my passion for reading and learning. There wasn’t one meeting that I attended where some reference was being made from a book or famous quote. Being the researcher that I am, I’d go to the library to get the book or look up the quote online to jot it down in my “mental quote rolodex”.

Ever since the continual plummet of our market, I’ve been reading tons of books by Napoleon Hill, John Maxwell, Frank Rambauskas and the list goes on and on. I’ve read on topics from business building, sales and marketing to pursuing your passion and doubling your income doing what you love. My point for sharing this is because this is what I’ve discovered (that may help all of us out)….

- Life happens in cycles, and in order for our economy to be renewed, change must occur. Otherwise, the seperation of class would continue to dominate causing the rich to get richer and the poor to get poorer. This recession, although appearing as a sabatoge to “everyone”, is really an opportunity to level the playing field. Those that once enjoyed the “luxuries” of life, while looking down on the little people, are now being held accountable and regulated for their misguided attempts to rule the world.

Meanwhile, for those of us that were “everyday” people, we are given an opportunity to seperate our emotions from our rationale, and begin to act on the ideas and visions that we’ve had for so long, but ceased to pursue them due to our “obligations”.

- For many that have lost their jobs, I admit that it is extremely challenging to compromise your way of life and deal with the fear of not eating….but one thing that I learned in my experience of “losing it all” is that God will provide and allow you to eat and have shelter…even if it is in an uncomfortable setting.

- This recession has been a time to hit the “reset” button. There are things that we’ve known we should have been doing, but with our cushy situation, we ignored it, allowing ourselves to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. However, with our world being shook up, this gives our Spirit a chance to get our attention and speak to us, allowing us to rekindle the fire of passion and purpose within.

What goes down will come up, but my question is, where will you stand at the end of this recession? Right now, Millionaires are being made in their thoughts first, then their actions will lead to the frution and birthing of wealth in their lives.

For many years, we’ve heard the churches quote “God’s taking the wealth of the wicked and laying it up for the righteous”, but my question is, can you handle the process?

Now is the time where your vision shall come to life..

Now’s the time where you can start from scratch and pursue the things you’ve always desired to do, with no excuses in your path….

Now’s the time where your spiritual strength will reveal your character and sustain you to the point of peace in the midst of this storm….

Now’s the time where your life shall transition from what you always dreamed, to what you shall live…..IF AND ONLY IF YOU CAN HANDLE THE PROCESS….

Now is the time where Millionaires are being made. It is in the midst of darkness that your light shall be able to shine. Remember, the darkest hour is always right before the break of day…..

You’ve heard it time and time again: there is a 97% Failure rate in the Network Marketing Industry, and the reasons for the failure vary as much as the people who enter the industry.

And after being a part of the industry for about 17 months, not actually getting into the thick of it, till recently as the first year was pretty much understanding the Business Model and getting over the “learning curve”…

I had a revelation, an epiphany if you will, and I’ve worked with many many people and I have come to the conclusion that there is one ingredient that most people are missing and THAT is the culprit responsible for their continued failure in this industry,

And it’s NOT What you think.

Here is a list of reasons most people typically use to describe the failure rate in the industry,

-Not enough Leads
-Not enough Cash Flow
-Not enough Support from the sponsor
-It’s the wrong company
-The payment Plan Sucks
-Lack of Leadership
-Lack of ambition
-Lack of discipline and determination

The list goes on and on, but upon further investigation, and delving deeper into the human factor that goes along with succeeding in the industry, and studying the character of the people who do succeed in the industry, I have discovered what it truly is…and you may
or may not agree with me…and that’s ok..

But here it is….

The Reason that 97% of people fail in this industry is they simply do not have enough LOVE.

What??

Yep, LOVE is the missing ingredient in this industry, the LACK of LOVE is what keeps people from succeeding in this industry, and in life, for that matter, and I will go on to explain, so stay with me…

LOVE is the driving force behind a Man who would run across the ends of the earth for the love of his woman.

LOVE is the driving force behind a woman who risks her life to save her child from harms way.

LOVE is the epicenter of the LEADER who is willing and open to sharing everything he has to give to others.

(The LEADER is the HEART of the Network…)

LOVE is the cousin of “Selflessness” which is the opposite of “Selfishness” that is required to train thousands of strangers to succeed in an industry where most people fail.

LOVE is the battery that powers the person who stay’s up till the wee hours of the night, building their business.

LOVE is the motivator…

LOVE sparks desire…
Most people don’t love themSELVES enough to give freely and without want to others…&  that is why they fail

Most people don’t love themselves enough to look into the eyes of another on the street,

Why would they ever succeed in a business built on Love for People?

If you don’t LOVE yourself, how can you ever expect to love anyone else enough to…

-Train Them
-Support them
-Lead them
-Listen to them

I’m not much of a Bible Reader but This Passage, in my opinion, holds TRUTH

Love is patient,
love is kind.
It does not envy,
it does not boast,
it is not proud.

it is not self-seeking,
it is not easily angered,

It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always preserves

Love Never Fails.

When You LOVE yourself – you WILL Take the Actions necessary
When you LOVE yourself – You WILL make the sacrifices required

Didn’t you LOSE Sleep Dreaming about the One you Loved?

Yet people will not Lose sleep for their Dream Business….
They do not love themselves enough to persevere…
They do not love themselves enough to Learn, to discover to give it their best shot…

No, Selfishness is running the game..

Me. Me. Me. What’s in it For ME???

Selfish is caring supremely for one’s self; regarding one’s own comfort, advantage, in disregard or at the expense of others..

They judge of things according to their own private appetites and selfish passions – Cudworth

LOVE, on the other hand – is a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person, an affectionate concern for the well-being of others and oneself.

My Friends, I can honestly tell you that the times I have struggled in the industry, it’s because I had a lack of love for myself.

I doubted
I worried
I feared

All these emotions are the opposite of LOVE.

When your Network Marketing Business is built on a Foundation of LOVE;

That of YOURSELF and of OTHERS…

And you are driven by this Incredible Power…

You will NOT Fail.

MLM is a people business, built on a Foundation of LOVE, it has to be.

And LOVE starts within, – not without.

Success starts in the Mind, but it is powered by the heart.
