For the Technically Challenged! Discover how to Create a Twitter Badge/Widget!

I remember there once was a time when html and even copying and pasting was totally foreign to me. And anything technical would take my brain into a tailspin.

And now, in Network Marketing, if you are using the internet especially, you’ve GOT to get with the program and develop some technical skills. I haven’t really seen anyone in our industry tackle these issues, because I have personally found that it’s these little technical nuissances that keep otherwise, determined, and motivated people, stops them dead in their tracks.

So welcome to the Techie Corner, a place in my blog where you can find some cool shortcuts, technical tips and tricks and maybe a piece of software or two that make my life easier! And now I will share them with you!

 

Tip #1

Shortcuts For Copying and Pasting:

Instead of Right clicking your mouse for the menu to come up on your screen simply do this:

Copy = (Control + C) – First highlight whatever you want to copy, then, Hold down the control key with your pinky and then press C with your pointer finger

Cut = (Control + X) – First highlight whatever you want to copy, then, Hold down the control key with your pinky and then press X with your pointer finger.

Paste = (Control + V) – First highlight whatever you want to copy, then, Hold down the control key with your pinky and then press V with your pointer finger.

 

Tip #2 

Practicing HTML

Ok, so if you’re using Social Media to promote yourself and business on the Web, you’ve more than certainly come across the word “widget”. Widgets are little “thiggamajiggies” that with the proper html code, can be placed on sites that support html to serve different functions. For example, if you are a TWITTER user twitter has a cool little widget you can place on your blogs or other remote locations such as myspace, or squidoo, for example…that will display your latest TWEETS as soon as you post them to twitter. But in order to do this, you’ll need to copy and paste the html Manually to the remote locations.

But you want to make sure it looks right before you go through the trouble of updating your Myspace profile or logging into your blog!

So let’s Use our New Shortcuts to practice placing a Widget in a Remote Location…

 

So Go ahead and follow the Instructions in the Diagrams provided!

So First go to: http://www.twitter.com/badges

Step 1.

Step 2.

Pick the Type of Badge You would Like To appear in your Remote Location (i.e. My Space, Blog, etc)

 

 

 

 

 

Step 3. Choose your Preferred Badge Color and then Copy the HTML Code Provided.

 

 

 

 

 

Once you Copy the Code (Look at the above Short Cut Tips to Easily Cut, Copy and/or paste!

Step 4. Go to http://www.practiceboard.com to paste the HTML for the Twitter Widget to make sure it will appear correctly once you paste it on the Remote Site!

 

 

 

 

Step 5. Paste the Html into the Empty Box and click on “See html”

 

 

 

 

Step 6. Voila! It works! Now your Widget is ready to be Copy and Pasted to any Remote Location!
